Guangxi Telecom selects Alcatel for multiservice, multi-protocol network
Alcatel has signed a multimillion dollar contract with Guangxi Telecom to supply products from its access, edge, and core data networking portfolio to the provincial service provider in southern China.
The new multiservice, multi-protocol network, to be completed in the first half of this year, will cover 12 main cities in the province, including the capital city, Nanning, and the key industrial centers of Liuzhou and Guilin.
The network supports multiservice applications, offering ATM/MPLS, DDN, and Frame Relay services in one single unified network platform and managed end-to-end by the Alcatel 5620 Network Manager. In addition, the network enables ADSL aggregation and is capable of delivering next-generation voice services, such as voice-over-packet (VoP), and is easy to migrate to a voice/data converged network, claims Alcatel.
Per the contract, Alcatel will provide its 7670 Routing Switch Platform for the multiservice edge and multi-protocol core, in addition to the Alcatel 7270 Multiservice Concentrator. The digital data network (DDN) will be comprised of Alcatel 3600 Bandwidth Managers.
