23 October 2003 London -- 23 October 2003 London Lightwave Europe -- Interoute, the owner and operator of Europe's most densely connected network, has selected P-Cube's Service Engine and Engage Solution to manage Peer-to-Peer traffic on the network.

By enabling Interoute to exercise complete control over the amount of P2P bandwidth allowed on specific parts of the network, the P-Cube solution is said to improve network performance for Interoute-supported enterprises and ISPs. This service is being promoted by Interoute as its "Clean Transit" offering.

The management solution has been deployed across a large part of Interoute's network, which covers 45 European cities in total, and is scheduled for wider deployment in the near future. Any enterprise or ISP client using Interoute's multinational network can now specify P2P traffic bandwidth optimisation on their WAN connections.

"Peer-to-Peer traffic has been growing rapidly and consumes as much bandwidth as it can get," said James Kinsella, Executive Chairman of Interoute. "ISPs and enterprises have little or no control over it. Our Peer-to-Peer management offering helps optimise the network, and regain predictability in mission-critical application performance."

"It is no longer how big your pipes are, it's all about the content and services those pipes carry," added Ron Westfall, Principal Analyst, Current Analysis. "The P-Cube platform provides control over applications and customer network usage, enabling service providers to focus beyond connectivity and transport to deliver tailored services that build strong customer retention and higher profitability capabilities."

About P-Cube
P-Cube says its technology, products, and solutions are "speeding the evolution of networks from generic transport mechanisms to multi-service delivery platforms."

Yuval Shahar, president and CEO of P-Cube, said, "To become profitable, IP networks must evolve intelligence beyond providing just packet transport and deliver increased customer and content-based control."

The Service Control solutions overlay intelligence and control on existing IP transport networks. The Service Engine range provides stateful deep packet inspection in a programmable network resident device. P-Cube's top-tier customers include SingTel, Telenor, @NetHome, Korea Telecom, and Interoute.
