Packet-optical transport systems vendor Transmode says that MS3 of the UK is in the midst of building a new business access network in Hull using Transmode’s TM-Series platforms, including the Native Packet Optical 2.0 Ethernet Muxponder (EMXP). MS3 will use the new infrastructure to set up shop as a high-speed alternative communications provider for Hull and the surrounding region.
The TM-Series packet-optical transport systems will ensure the network can support large signal capacities, including the provision of 10 Gigabit Ethernet and Internet services to businesses throughout the city. The first phase of the new network is operational, making MS3 the area’s first alternative service provider. MS3 has spent more than £3 million on the fiber-optic network project so far.
Tony Hales, MS3 managing director, commented, "This new optical network will allow us to provide a range of communications solutions to local businesses and service providers. As an independent provider, we believe it is essential for businesses to have access to high-speed Ethernet services. The new network will help businesses in the city of Hull stay competitive. Our investment in Transmode's solution has given us the ideal flexible platform for our immediate needs and will scale as demand grows.
"Our primary concern while building this network is that our customers will have access to a high-capacity network now and in the future," added Hales. "We chose Transmode's optical platform because it met our requirements and we liked the can-do attitude of the Transmode team."
