The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.1 Engineering Committee on Premises Telecommunications Infrastructure has issued a call for interest in the creation ofTIA-758-C, a new specification set initially titled “Customer-Owned Outside Plant Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard.” The initiative would result in guidelines for what the TIA describes as “the planning and installation of an outside plant structured cabling system infrastructure.”

The potential standard would address campus environments and would detail recommendations and requirements for the design of telecommunication pathways and spaces as well as the cabling installed between buildings or points in a customer-owned infrastructure. The TIA notes that customer-owned campus facilities are typically termed “outside plant” (OSP) but are called “customer-owned OSP” for the purposes of the TIA-758-C initiative.

The TIA is looking for participation from the user and general interest communities, including but not limited to designers, installers, building owners, and building tenants. Additional information is available from Marta Soncodi at [email protected].
