Optiwave Systems intros OptiSystem 9.0 software suite for 100G coherent design
JUNE 2, 2009 -- Optiwave Systems Inc. has announced the immediate availability of OptiSystem 9.0, the latest version of its optical communication system design suite. This major release delivers a number of new features that address the design of advanced optical systems using 100 Gbps (100G) coherent transmission architectures.
"OptiSystem 9.0 is the 100G network design solution for system design engineers," said Dr. Jan Jakubczyk, president of Optiwave. "As we see continued growth in network traffic and demand for additional bandwidth, service providers are focused on the deployment of 100G systems. Our customers have expressed great interest in 100G modeling capabilities in OptiSystem, and we are pleased to provide a complete design solution with this latest release."
With the addition of new component models such as optical coherent QPSK and DP-QPSK receivers, thulium-doped fiber amplifier models, additional OFDM transmitter components, and much more, OptiSystem 9.0 is a timely upgrade for users currently running previous versions of OptiSystem.
"100G networks are at a critical research stage where researchers are exploring the possibilities of implementing next-generation system architecture on frameworks that fit within the spectral envelopes of existing 10G systems," said Dr. Jackson Klein, director of optical systems at Optiwave. "Such an implementation would greatly reduce upgrade costs to service providers. OptiSystem is a critical research and development resource used to explore these design framework possibilities, and we believe the new component models introduced in OptiSystem 9.0 meets this growing need."
