DECEMBER 9, 2010 -- In elections held this week at the The Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) Council's quarterly members' meeting in Phoenix, council members chose Kevin Bourg of Enablence Systems, Doug Dowling of Tyco Electronics, and Kevin Morgan of ADTRAN to serve two year terms on the organization’s board or directors. Both Bourg and Morgan are first-time board members, while Dowling served on the council's board earlier in the decade.

Serving as board chairman in 2011 will be Mike Hill, CEO/president of On Trac Inc., a Tennessee-based company that provides turnkey installation services for the FTTH industry nationwide. Hill has more than 40 years in the business, and has been involved with FTTH installations since 2003. Elected last year by the board as chair-elect and head of the council's annual Conference & Expo for 2010, Hill's term of board service was automatically extended to a third year under the council's by-laws.

As chairman he replaces David Russell, solutions marketing director for Calix, who is stepping down from the board following the expiration of his term. Russell will continue his association with the council as chair of the Government Relations Committee in 2011 following his selection by the membership.

Rounding out the nine-member 2011 board are John George of OFS, Steve Holt of KGP Logistics, Kyle Hollifield of Bristol Virginia Utilities, Dave Kiel of Corning Cable Systems, and George O'Neal of GVTC, all of whom were elected to two-year terms at the end of 2009.

In addition to Russell, Max Kipfer of Connexion Technologies and Patrick Sims of ADC will be stepping down from the board following the expiration of their terms.

Other committee chairs elected this week include Scott Jackson of Graybar and Joseph Jones of On Trac, both of whom were re-elected to chair the Technology and Planning Committees respectively. Elected to chair the International Committee was Rob Crowell, vice president, DSM Desotech.
