November 8, 2004 Petah Tikva, Israel -- Kyivstar, one of the largest mobile operators in the Ukraine, has selected the XDM technology from ECI Telecom to build its SDH network throughout the Ukrainian region. Installation of the network, which has already begun, will span more than 5,000 km and is being deployed in cooperation with Priocom, one of the largest integrators in the Ukraine.

ECI states its XDM technology will allow Kyivstar the flexibility of offering converged SDH, data, and WDM services, creating a scalable optical network. ECI's XDM-500, XDM-1000, and BroadGate (mu)SDM-1 elements will be deployed in the new network.

ECI Telecom has been responsible for the design and implementation of the network, in addition to the training of the network engineers. Priocom took part in the network design and delivery, and the day-to-day management of the network is achieved in coordination with both companies.

"Our number one priority is to exceed the expectations of our customers by providing low-cost, high-quality voice and data services," said Kjell Nordbo, Kyivstar's technical cirector. "ECI supplies us with a scalable technology to provide affordable, top-of-the-line mobile communications."
