March 4, 2003 - Inphi Corp. (Westlake Village, CA) today announced the addition of two new electro-absorption (EA) drivers to its OC-192 SONET/SDH family of modulator drivers. The 1015EA and 1016EA support data rates of 10.7 Gbits/sec and deliver outstanding performance in a small form factor to equipment manufacturers looking to obtain high-quality, cost-competitive transponder components. These devices are intended for use in a wide range of applications such as metro and long reach network systems and 10-Gigabit Ethernet.

The 1015EA and 1016EA have a minimum output compliance of 3.4 volts and 4.5 volts, respectively. These drivers generate an output modulation voltage of up to 3 volts peak-to-peak (V p-p) single ended and can support a bias voltage from -0.5 to -1.5 V p-p. In addition, they demonstrate excellent output amplitude, eye crossing, and output bias voltage stability over variations in temperature and voltage supply. These three parameters are all user adjustable for maximum design flexibility.

The 1015EA and 1016EA can support high-bit-rate, non-return-to-zero (NRZ) transmission systems. These devices were designed specifically to ensure pad-out and pin-out compatibility with currently available EA drivers. This feature facilitates second sourcing and reduces the cost of both existing designs and future upgrade programs.

The 1015EA and 1016EA are available for immediate purchase in either a 32-lead quad flat package (8 x 8 mm) or in die form in sample quantities, with volume production beginning in the second quarter of 2003. Unit pricing for the packaged 1015EA is $72 for production quantities of 1,000 units.
