Multilink introduces clock driver for 10 to 13 Gb/s RZ transmission

July 20, 2001
July 20, 2001--Multilink Technology Corporation, a provider of advanced component solutions, introduced the MTC5530 as its first clock driver module for Lithium Niobate Return to Zero (RZ) optical modulators.

Multilink Technology Corporation (Multilink - Nasdaq: MLTC) a provider of advanced component solutions, introduced the MTC5530 as its first clock driver module for Lithium Niobate (LiNbO3) Return to Zero (RZ) optical modulators. Being produced in a significantly smaller package than the current market standard, this module also features notably reduced power requirements, a uniquely integrated Automated Gain Control (AGC), high sensitivity input, high voltage output, and digital and analog phase shift capability.

The MTC5530 is a half-rate clock driver that accepts a low level sinusoidal signal and generates an extremely high quality signal for 10 to 13 Gb/s bit rate SONET/SDH transmission systems. Additionally, the device is a high efficiency power amplifier module providing linear gain control with built-in temperature compensated AGC with better than 1% accuracy over temperature and voltage, spectral purity of 70 dBc typical, large input and output dynamic range, and both digital and analog wide linear phase shift control. The module has high input sensitivity (400 mV) and high voltage output (14 V), making this device suitable for most RZ transmission applications. A voltage reference pin is provided for optical externally implemented AGC.

Maximum performance results can be achieved when the MTC5530 is used in combination with Multilink's complete line of superior products. The suggested complimentary Multilink units include the MTC5525 Limiting Modulator Driver, MTC1233 Multiplexer with integrated Clock Multiplier Unit (MUXCMU), MTC1234 Demultiplexer with integrated Clock and Data Recovery (CDRDMUX), and the MTC6130 Forward Error Correction Digital Wrapper processor. By utilizing a total Multilink package of products, an exceptional physical layer solution for Long Haul transmission systems can be achieved.

MTC5530 Product samples will be available in August of 2001 at a cost of $3,450.00 (U.S.) each.
