Cable-TV purchase
China`s Hunan Posts and Telecommunications Administration is buying Minneapolis-based ADC Telecommunications Inc.`s DV6000 digital-transmission system from the company`s joint venture, Shanghai ADC Telecommunications Equipment Co. Ltd. According to China`s Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, this two-year, $14 million contract is the country`s largest cable-TV order. In phase one of the network build, 14 cities in the Hunan province will be connected, representing 65 million people. ADC`s DV6000 digital-transmission system operates at 2.4 gigabits per second and supports 16 channels of digitized broadband traffic.
