Gigabit Ethernet transceiver

The vsc7136 Gigabit Ethernet transceiver is optimized for nic hub switch and other space-constrained application. The 20-bit unit uses a 62.5-MH¥reference clock and accepts two 10-bit 8B/10B encoded transmit characters. The device samples serial receive data on the receiver pecl differential inputs, recovers the clock and data, deserializes it into two 10-bit receive characters, outputs a recovered clock at 1/20 of the incoming baud rate, and detects "comma" characters. It has on-chip ppl circuitry for synthesis of the baud-rate transmit clock and extraction of the clock from the received serial stream.
