Optelian expands portfolio with XFP, SFP transceivers
JULY 14, 2008 -- Optelian (search for Optelian) today announced the expansion of its LightGAIN Optical Transport portfolio with XFP and SFP transceivers.
The RGN-10GXF is a multi-rate optical regenerator using XFP hot-swappable, small form factor pluggable transceivers to provide cost-effective options for 10-Gbit/sec fiber transport.
The RGN-10GXF supports short reach, long reach, and extended reach applications over singlemode and multimode fiber for 850 nm, 1310 nm, 1550 nm, and DWDM (C-band).
According to the company, the RGN-10GXF provides 3R operation (Reshape, Regenerate and Re-time) and supports multiple data rates from 9.95 to 11.32 Gbits/sec. Common applications include but are not limited to 9.95 Gbits/sec (OC-192), 10.31 Gbits/sec (10-GbE), and 10.52 Gbits/sec (10 GFC).
Optelian is also releasing the RGN-3GSF, which hosts up to four Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) modules to support bandwidth provisioning, reach extension, and interface conversion applications from 10 Mbits/sec to 2.7 Gbits/sec.
As part of the LightGAIN system, the unit mounts in any of the family's active shelves (standard 48 V dual supply) and can operate standalone or under network management. To support standalone operation, the unit provides alarm relay contacts and intuitive status and configuration access via a front panel graphic display, touch pad controls, and LEDs, say company representatives.
