10-channel tunable transmitter

The new C489 transmitter is a 10-channel tunable transmitter for both short- and long-haul high-speed optical networks. Based on electroabsorptive modulated laser technology, the transmitter combines an integrated single-chip 1.5-mm distributed Bragg reflector laser, booster amplifier, photodetector, and electroabsorptive modulator in one package. It also features built-in spectral stabilization, which locks the laser emission to any of 10 adjacent 50-GHz channels, providing stability of better than 20 picometers. The transmitter is ideal for terminal-equipment DWDM applications from metro to extended-reach systems up to 640 km and operates at 2.5 Gbit/s.
