CoAdna TMX 1xN tunable mux/demux commercially available

CoAdna Photonics, Inc. has announced the commercial availability of its TMX 1xN tunable mux/demux products. Designed for colorless optical add/drop applications, including as a drop-in upgrade for existing ROADM systems, the TMX product line has been successfully qualified by multiple customers and is starting to ship in volume, the company says.

CoAdna Photonics, Inc. has announced the commercial availability of its TMX 1xN tunable mux/demux products. Designed for colorless optical add/drop applications, including as a drop-in upgrade for existing ROADM systems, the TMX product line has been successfully qualified by multiple customers and is starting to ship in volume, the company says. The 1xN TMX product line uses CoAdna’s proprietary liquid crystal (LC) -based LightFlow technology platform, which CoAdna says has been proven highly reliable and scalable. The port count N is optimized at 16 to achieve the lowest cost/port ratio, the company says. The TMX features hitless wavelength tunability and remote configurability at a power consumption of <1 W. The footprint and electrical interface of the TMX are designed to be identical to those of the wavelength-selective switch (WSS), so as to minimize upgrade efforts, including engineering time and costs for network equipment manufacturers. CoAdna believes the TMX provides a way for its customers to easy upgrade ROADM networks with colorless, directionless, and contentionless capabilities on a pay-as-you-grow business model. “CoAdna’s TMX was first introduced at last year’s OFC; we are proud to see it has qualified for volume deployment now,” said Dr. Jim Yuan, president and CEO of CoAdna. “Practicality and cost-effectiveness are the highlights of this product line.
