MFS Network Technologies Inc.
has awarded a $2 million contract to Richardson, TX-based Intelect Inc. for 83 sonetlynx nodes of OC-3 digital fiber-optic multiplexers operating at 155 Mbits/sec. The multiplexers are planned for the first phase of an 800-mile fiber-optic network that MFS Technologies is developing in partnership with three corporations in Alaska. The network will operate along the trans-Alaska pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez. Another 55 nodes are planned for the second phase of the project, scheduled for late 1997.
