Fiber Depolarizers for RAMAN Lasers

Oct. 1, 2000

A new broadband in-line fiber depolarizer operates over the entire transmission network window (1300 to 1610 nm). The all-fiber, passive depolarizer features fused-fiber construction with no free-space optics, moving parts, or bending in the light path. The fiber depolarizers are designed for use with Raman lasers, providing unpolarized light with DOP < l% and low insertion loss. The standard devices are insensitive to input polarization changes and environmental effects. The devices are ruggedized and available in compact box or customized packaging.
