MULTIPLEXERS

Jan. 1, 2001

Two wavelength-division multiplexers are fabricated using fused biconical taper technology to meet Bellcore GR-1209 and GR-1221 specifications. They combine either 980- or 1480-nm pump light with 1550-nm signal light in erbium-doped fiber amplifiers. They have a typical signal insertion loss of 0.25 dB, with 0.55 dB maximum, and a minimum return loss of 50 dB. Operating temperature is from -40°C to 85°C.
