July 21, 2005 Hsinchu City, Taiwan -- Faztec Optronics has introduced its upgraded Fast Measurement Test System for testing PON components (FMTS-PON). The system's operational frequency has been upgraded from its original 100-Mbit/sec to range between 155 Mbit/sec and 1.25Gbit/sec frequencies.
The upgraded system also provides two optical network unit (ONU) interfaces and one optical line terminal (OLT) independent interface, which can be used to replace the existing device under test (DUT) terminals of the company's TRX optical transmission module. According to the company, under this testing structure, FMTS-PON can not only measure the sensitivity of an OLT, but also the performance of each individual ONU.
The company says the system can be applied to ONU and OLT module testing for any PON product, including APON, BPON, EPON, GPON, and W-PON. All testing parameters are configurable via software in order to satisfy different users' needs. The company says the FMTS-PON utilizes and controls the 1/8 channel of the Anritsu MP1763C pulse pattern generator to provide all necessary timing sequences for simulating real-time, burst mode signal transmission.
Moreover, according to the company, Anritsu's MP1764C or MP1632C error detectors can be applied to the system's bit error rate testing, depending on the OLT reception rate. Thus, existing MP1764C/MP1632C users can instantaneously upgrade these devices through the FMTS-PON test solution.
The company says its FMTS-PON testing system can be used to integrate and upgrade an existing Anritsu BERT system to a contemporary PON testing system.
