Digital Lightwave Inc. announced Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) test functionality for its Network Information Computer (NIC) product line, available as a license-based software upgrade for MSA 2020/2030 modules enabling network operators and network equipment manufacturers to test Carrier Ethernet network equipment and services.

Extending the capability of the NIC to support Carrier Ethernet testing, the MSA 2020/2030 modules are compatible with the NIC NXG, NIC Plus, NIC BP, and NIC EP platforms, bringing the MPLS test functionality to applications as diverse as field-based testing, automated production-line testing, and R&D test applications.

"The NIC platform continues to meet the latest needs of the Carrier Ethernet market," says Tom Newhart, vice president of sales. "MPLS is a crucial technology for delivering Carrier-class Ethernet services. Supporting testing of MPLS-delivered services makes the NIC an essential tool for test and turn up of these services."
