OCTOBER 15, 2008 -- Ixia (search for Ixia) has announced the opening of a new "iSimCity" executive briefing center and proof-of-concept (PoC) lab in Bangalore, India, to serve the growing number of telecommunications research and development facilities there. The new iSimCity Center is one of a number of such centers that Ixia is establishing around the world.

In addition to executive briefings and PoC testing, customers also will be able to make use of Ixia's professional services and schedule third-party tests in the advanced lab environment.

"Realistic, large-scale testing is of huge importance, and at Bangalore, we will have a state-of-the art facility," said Naveen Bhat, sales vice president, Asia Pacific. "We will immediately be able to emulate 120,000 subscribers in a single test; by the end of the year, we'll have the capacity to test systems with up to 500,000 subscribers."

Network equipment manufacturers, service providers and enterprises often request a proof-of-concept demonstration, at scale, before they will commit to purchasing test applications and equipment. Both test hardware and software must be proven to function with the devices to be tested.

"India was a natural choice for one of our iSimCity Centers," said Atul Bhatnagar, Ixia president and CEO. "We not only have an important sales office and training facility in Bangalore, but we also have important network equipment manufacturing customers there who are eager to make use of this new iSimCity, which has all the latest Ixia software and hardware solutions. Customers can be confident that their equipment and services will be rigorously tested."

Ixia's India headquarters is in Kolkata, and includes a product development center along with sales and training.
