JULY 16, 2008 -- Anritsu Instruments Company (search for Anritsu) recently announced the availability of new software enhancements to the Gigabit Ethernet module for the widely deployed CMA 5000. According to the company, the new features further expand the test capability and ease of use to ensure quality of service to the end customer.
The continued strain on Ethernet networks due to high-bandwidth triple-play services further expands the test capabilities required for maintenance and troubleshooting. For example, Anritsu says its new channel statistics feature provides extensive insight and troubleshooting capability, which will decrease deployment issues and decrease downtime when problems do arise.
Additional new features include:
• TCP and UDP encoding, which allows testing of the higher layer protocols and ensures the network is performing as engineered to meet SLAs;
• A channel statistics option, which provides over 40 statistics per IP conversation pairs on the network for more detailed analysis and network error isolation;
• An all new BERT application for network provisioning; and
• Sequence test and IP jitter measurements to evaluate links for use with time sensitive applications such VoIP and IPTV.
The CMA5710 Gigabit Ethernet application is a single-slot module that can be used in any CMA 5000 to enable the testing of 10/100/1000-Mbit/sec Ethernet networks. The module provides 2 optical (SFP) and 2 electrical (RJ45) ports and is specifically designed to facilitate installation and maintenance of Ethernet networks. For installation, it provides RFC2544 test functions, including throughput, latency, and frame-loss tests. For maintenance and troubleshooting, the module provides complete, non-intrusive monitoring capabilities and presents comprehensive statistics to give insight into the network's health and status, say company representatives.
The Gigabit Ethernet module for the CMA5000 with the V2.0 Software is now available for delivery.
