JDSU adds 40G field installation and maintenance tester
FEBRUARY 12, 2008 -- JDSU (search for JDSU) has introduced the T-BERD/MTS-8000 40G Transport module, a 40G field installation and maintenance tester. The 40G Transport module weighs less than 18 lbs. when fully equipped for 40G and has been demonstrated at multiple Tier 1 carriers worldwide, JDSU says.
With the addition of the 40G Transport module, JDSU touts the T-BERD/MTS-8000 platform as the market's "most complete service installation and maintenance test solution" because it addresses all fiber characterization, optical spectrum analysis, service verification, and troubleshooting needs from 1.5 Mbits/sec to 40 Gbits/sec in one platform. The 40G Transport module also includes features common to the T-BERD/MTS-8000 mainframe, including a large, integrated touch screen and GUI in a rugged, compact, and scalable form factor.
The T-BERD/MTS-8000 40G Transport module is designed to meet current 40G testing needs (OC-768/STM-256) while also adapting to new developments in the market (like changing line coding or line speeds). Features of the unit include ITU-T and GR-253 compliant optics with optical power measurement and frequency offset adjustment and measurement as well as multiple mappings to structure the 40G pipe, overhead generation and analysis, error and alarm generation and analysis, various timing modes, Round Trip Delay (RTD) measurements, and performance according to G.826 and G828.
Combining multiple test capabilities with field modularity, JDSU's T-BERD/MTS-8000 is a scalable field platform for installing and maintaining short-haul, long-haul, FTTx, metro, CWDM, transport, data, and DWDM networks.
