Yelo Ltd. now offers an automated high-volume test and burn-in system designed to aid the manufacture of optical components for 100-Gbps data center networks.

The UK-based automated test and measurement company will tout the system at the upcoming China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE), September 6-9 in Shenzhen, in booth 6005. David Simms, Yelo's director of sales and marketing, expects significant interest in the system.

"Our market research has identified that the use of optical components in data centers will grow by a factor of 100 over the next 8 years," says Simms. "This means that optical component manufacturers need to scale production from 10,000 components per month to 500,000 or even 1 million per month.

"It is simply not possible to scale this volume with people so they need automated assembly, automated test, automated burn-in, and automated packaging," he concludes.

The new system leverages the company's experience in burn-in and test to enable component manufacturers to increase volume, with improved yield and at lower labour cost, Simms asserts.
