Anritsu offers error detector for simultaneous multichannel BER measurements up to 32.1 Gbps
Test and measurement equipment vendor Anritsu Co. now offers a high-sensitivity error detector for its MP1800A BERT signal quality analyzer that supports multichannel bit error rate (BER) measurements up to 32.1 Gbps. The error detector offers what Anritsu asserts it industry-leading Rx sensitivity and auto adjust function speed. As a result, the error detector, when configured with the MP1800A, provides a highly accurate ability to verify that high-speed backplanes, cables, and interconnects are in compliance with industry standards, such as 100GBase-SR4 and 100GBase-KR4, Anritsu says.
The error detector offers typical Rx sensitivity of 10 mV and a wideband bit rate from 2.4 to 32.1 Gbps, according to Anritsu. Meanwhile, the auto adjust function permits simultaneous search in less than 1 s and automatically detects the optimum BER voltage threshold and phase levels for up to eight channels, the company adds.
Users can select either one-, two-, or four-channel inputs. Up to eight channels can be supported by adding more modules to the MP1800A BERT. Thanks to the new error detector the MP1800A can support simultaneous measurement of low-amplitude, small eye opening DUT outputs for multiple channels. The system can be used for testing of a variety of designs, including 100 Gigabit Ethernet (25Gx4), OTU-4 (28Gx4), CEI-28G, 32G Fibre Channel, Infiniband EDR, server/high-performance computer interconnects, and active optical cables (AOCs).
