Anritsu MP1800A Signal Quality Analyzer

March 17, 2015
The growth of cloud computer services and smartphone usage is driving the expansion of core network transmission capacity. Standards organizations and research bodies are examining next-gen, high-speed transmission technologies at 400 Gbps and 1 Tbps using methods such as QAM performing signal modulation in both the phase and amplitude domains.
There are a few new features that make it an advancement over predecessors, and these new features are crucial to multichannel phase modulation techniques. (For example,) the 2-mUI skew steps over a range of 64,000 mUI, and pattern synchronization functions are critical to testing the latest modulations. Judge's Comment.

The MP1800A BERT has a built-in eight-channel, 32-Gbps pulse pattern generator (PPG). When four units are synchronized, they can support configuration of an ultra high-speed transmission test system with multi-channel synchronization signals, including quad DP-16QAM and dual DP-64QAM. These are required for 400-Gbps and 1-Tbps transmission tests.

The 32-Gbps PPG produces low-jitter waveforms. Skew in the PPG can be adjusted in 2-mUI steps over a range of +64,000 mUI (64 bits) at multi-channel synchronization. The PPG also incorporates a pattern synchronization function to control the pattern generation timing between multi-channel data signals. The test system can generate signals with a high-speed rise time of 12 ps, which meets the signal quality required for phase amplitude transmission systems.
