AFL Splicer Accessory Management via Bluetooth

Feb. 20, 2020
The CT50 utilizes a cleave-counting mechanism managed internally from which the splicer continuously reads to track cleaver blade wear and overall life. This innovation reduces time, cost, and hassle on tool upkeep, says AFL.
Fujikura (AFL’s parent company) has introduced a new generation of splicing equipment with communication between splicer and fiber preparation accessories. Specifically, the CT50 utilizes a cleave-counting mechanism managed internally from which the splicer continuously reads to track cleaver blade wear and overall life. This innovation reduces time, cost, and hassle on tool upkeep, says AFL.

Judge’s comment: “The Bluetooth connectivity between cleaver and splicer takes the guesswork out blade replacement. Users don't need to remember which positions of the cleaver blade are worn, and the blade is rotated automatically when the splicer detects a poor cleave quality. This should result in higher efficiencies and, ultimately, lower cost of ownership.”
