Bharti Telenet deploys Nortel Networks OPTera Metro Platform in Haryana

February 1, 2002--Bharti Telenet Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharti Tele-Ventures, one of India's telecom conglomerates, has deployed Nortel Networks OPTera Metro 4000 Multiservice Platform, a high-capacity, optical SDH backbone for its fixed-line TouchTel network in the state of Haryana.

Bharti Telenet Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharti Tele-Ventures, one of India's telecom conglomerates, has deployed Nortel Networks OPTera Metro 4000 Multiservice Platform, a high-capacity, optical SDH backbone for its fixed-line TouchTel network in the state of Haryana.

Bharti Telenet operates India's first private sector fixed-line service and the country's largest private telephone service in Madhya Pradesh. The Haryana rollout is another step in Bharti's plan to deliver fixed-line services to Delhi, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Tamil Nadu.

Bharti Telenet Ltd. (Haryana) and another Bharti Tele-Ventures subsidiary, Bharti Telesonic Ltd, have also deployed Nortel Networks Preside Network Management System as a tool to manage Nortel Networks optical backbone.
