b>EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering, Inc. (Quebec City, Canada) announced a fully integrated power meter option to provide field technicians with insertion loss measurements in addition to basic OTDR testing supported by FTB-100 platforms.

The FTB-100 platform is used for testing LAN, WAN, metro and access-edge networks, as well as to maintain and troubleshoot applications on long-haul networks. EXFOs vice-president of marketing, Mario Larose, asserts that the power meter is useful for optical fiber link qualifications, and offers customers significant savings in terms of cost and time since they dont have to purchase and operate two separate instruments.
