VeEX releases RXT-4100+ OTDR module to support 500,000 data sampling points

VeEX Inc. said it has released the RXT-4100+ optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) module for the RXT platform. The RXT-4100+ is the first field portable OTDR in the world to support as much as 500,000 data sampling points with 3-cm resolution, the company attests. While existing VeEX OTDRs offer event and attenuation dead zone performance, the new RXT-4100+ offers nearly twice as much resolution as is available in the current market, according to VeEX

VeEX Inc. said it has released the RXT-4100+ optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) module for the RXT platform. The RXT-4100+ is the first field portable OTDR in the world to support as much as 500,000 data sampling points with 3-cm resolution, the company attests.

While existing VeEX OTDRs offer event and attenuation dead zone performance, the new RXT-4100+ offers nearly twice as much resolution as is available in the current market, according to VeEX. Available for all wavelength and dynamic range configurations, the upgraded sampling resolution enables technicians to perform out-of-service and in-service testing on all fiber infrastructure forms, with enhanced accuracy.

"The RXT-4100+ is now the most accurate field portable OTDR using traditional Rayleigh scattering technology," said Nancy Lee, VeEX senior product manager. "The newly redesigned RXT-4100+ module offers improved characterization of emerging PON/FTTx networks, including fault location detection with greater event resolution," she continued.

This upgrade follows VeEX's announcement in July that it had enhanced its OPX-BOX OTDR line with the OPX-BOXe (see "VeEX offers OPX-BOXe OTDR as OPX-BOX+ update").

The new RXT-4100+ OTDR is now generally available for shipment.
