Poll: Optical technology impact on data center interconnect
Please let us know whether you are a data center and which optical technologies are affecting your data center interconnection (DCI) operations.
Today, momentum is growing around IPoDWDM with 400ZR, 800ZR and 800ZR+ modules. A recent Dell’Oro report forecast that shipments of ZR+ optical pluggable modules in routers and switches are expected to jump in 2026 as hyperscalers increasingly scale-across data centers to build larger AI factories.
Another key technology is Co-packaged optics (CPO). Co-packaged optics (CPO) is an emerging technology for connecting components within a single data center (DCI application space), aimed at significantly improving power efficiency and bandwidth to meet the demands of AI workloads. Key optical vendors like Ciena and Marvell have been actively building up their CPO war chest through the acquisitions of Nubis and Celestial AI.
