Poll: Over the next three years, which data center class do you expect to increase DCI spending at the fastest rate?
Please let us know what data center class you expect to increase DCI spending at the fastest rate.
It’s hard not to notice the growth rates of data centers. JLL noted in its 2026 Global Data Center Outlook that nearly 100 gigawatts (GW) of new data centers will be added between 2026 and 2030, doubling global capacity. Additionally, the company said the global data center sector will likely expand to 14% CAGR by 2030, requiring energy innovations to alleviate grid constraints.
While spending on electricity will continue to rise, the rate of data center buildouts continues to accelerate, and spending on data center interconnection will increase.
Driven by AI, cloud, and edge computing, Data Center Interconnection (DCI) is calling for accelerated fiber expansion, higher speeds (800G/1.6Tbps), disaggregated systems, IP-over-DWDM, and direct cloud connections. The use of high-speed optical networking platforms will coincide with an increasing focus on sustainability, liquid cooling, and power solutions to support the capacity growth and density needs for next-gen workloads.
