Ekinops PM 200FRS02 FlexRate line module deployed in Epsilon greenfield network

Ekinops (Euronext Paris - FR0011466069 – EKI) says that Epsilon is deploying its new PM 200FRS02 flexible rate line module in a greenfield network built by the privately owned global communications service provider. According to Ekinops, need for Epsilon's software-defined networking (SDN) and on-demand connectivity has increased over the past 18 months. Epsilon is addressing this growing demand by building a greenfield network in New York City. 

Ekinops (Euronext Paris - FR0011466069 – EKI) says that Epsilon is deploying its new PM 200FRS02 flexible rate line module in a greenfield network built by the privately owned global communications service provider.

According to Ekinops, need for Epsilon's software-defined networking (SDN) and on-demand connectivity has increased over the past 18 months. Epsilon is addressing this growing demand by building a greenfield network in New York City. The fiber network will use Ekinops's PM 200FRS02 line modules, which offer as much as 200G of bandwidth for connectivity of 100GbE services to any of Epsilon's 18 points of presence (PoPs) in the New York metro area.

To create 100G or 200G transport links, the PM 200FRS02 uses dual QSFP28 client ports with software-selectable line side modulation that can be provisioned as either DP-QPSK or 16QAM, says Ekinops. The new module delivers upgraded functionality in one-third the space of conventional equipment, and only takes up one slot in an Ekinops 360 chassis.

Epsilon chose Ekinopsfor the advanced performance and flexibility offered by the PM 200FRS02, as well as its scalability, says the optical transport systems specialist. As many as six modules can be deployed in a single shelf providing 1.2 Tbps of capacity in just 2RU.Ekinops also was able to fulfill the four-week delivery schedule Epsilon required to meet specific customer needs, the company asserts.

According to Ekinops, Epsilon is also improving its network in the European cities of Paris, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam by deploying Ekinops ROADM technology, along with its passive filter for an affordable alternative to capacity access. As is the case with the New York City network, Epsilon requires a four-week delivery schedule for the European networks' expansion.

Epsilon supplies cloud-centric networking using its Global Interconnect fabric, which includes over than 600 service provider partners, internet exchanges, and global cloud service providers.

"Ekinops gave us the networking solutions we needed with some very aggressive timeframes. They worked closely with us to understand our needs and delivered a solution that will support our business in North America and Europe. We are a unique business and Ekinops gave us a unique solution."

Ekinops began offering the PM 200FRS02 and PM 200FRS02-SF flexible rate line modules to reduce optical transport costs, and enhance network flexibility andefficiency, in December of last year (see "Ekinops introduces two flexible rate line modules to reduce optical transport costs"). Spanish wholesale operator Aire Networks was one of the first customers to deploy the new Ekinops technology.
