Coriant adds 600G transmission to Groove via CloudWave T

Coriant says it has demonstrated single-wavelength 600-Gbps capabilities on the Coriant Groove G30 Open Line System (OLS) via the new OMD-64 module. The module leverages what Coriant calls CloudWave T technology, based on a new DSP.

Coriant says it has demonstrated single-wavelength 600-Gbps capabilities on the Coriant Groove G30 Open Line System (OLS) via the new OMD-64 module. The module leverages what Coriant calls CloudWave T technology, based on a new DSP.

The CloudWave T enables the Groove G30 to support 4.8 Tbps on the client side and the same on the line side, Coriant reports. That equates to up to 38.4 Tbps per fiber, with adaptive baud rates and fine granularity for spectral efficiency, the company adds. The 160-nm CMOS DSP requires 0.16 W per Gbps. In the demonstration, the OMD-64 module enabled single-wavelength 600-Gbps transmission error-free over 190 km of standard single-mode fiber using 64-QAM modulation at 69 Gbaud, said the company.

The Groove G30 CHM2T Multiservice Transponder sled, featuring the OMD-64 module, will be commercially available in January 2019.
