ARRIS (NASDAQ:ARRS) says seven operators globally have deployed its second-generation (Gen 2) modules for the E6000 Converged Edge Router (CER) CCAP platform.
The Gen 2 modules - which ARRIS introduced last October - are designed to enable customers to upgrade existing chassis to achieve up to a 70% increase in headend service group density without consuming more rack space. The solution is designed to deliver multi-gigabit broadband services and support migration to end-to-end IP video services. Additionally, the ARRIS Gen 2 modules provide a software-based headend upgrade path to remote PHY distributed access architecture (DAA).
"ARRIS has a deep understanding of the constant demands our customers face to meet ever-increasing bandwidth, infrastructure and efficiency requirements," said Dan Whalen, ARRIS president, Network & Cloud. "We worked hand-in-hand with the world's leading operators to develop the ARRIS E6000 Gen 2 modules, and subsequently deploy them in both large and small-scale network environments to facilitate this global rollout."
E6000 Gen 2 customers include:
- Comcast
- Grande Communications
- TDS Telecom
- WOW!
- LIWEST (Austria)
- NOS Comunicações (Portugal)
- TOYA (Poland)
"We're focused on not only delivering the most optimal levels of service for our customers today, but also determining what's needed to ensure their growing network speed and reliability requirements will be met down the road," said Lamar Horton VP, Network Engineering and Operations at Grande Communications. "With the ARRIS E6000 Gen 2 modules, we can lay the foundation to deploy distributed access architectures and remote PHY capabilities in the future, while leveraging our existing hardware investments today."
