Altice USA (Euronext:ATC) is continuing its gigabit Internet rollout, with new launches in parts of Arizona, Texas, Missouri and California. The company is also upgrading current customers with 75 and 100 Mbps service to 100 and 200 Mbps, respectively, in those markets.
Suddenlink gigabit is now available in Bullhead City, AZ; Truckee, CA; and the Branson/Hollister Tri-Lakes area, MO. In Texas, the service is now available in Nacogdoches and Collin and Denton County area communities, including Anna, Aubrey, Celina, Krum, Little Elm, Melissa, Pilot Point, Prosper and Sanger.
Suddenlink first announced its Operation GigaSpeed project in 2014, with the goal of having gigabit speeds available in 90% of its footprint by the end of 2017, and Altice has reaffirmed its commitment to the project. The service, which is now live in about 50 markets, is mainly based on DOCSIS 3.0, though fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) is being deployed in some places. Altice also recently announced plans for FTTH-based 10 Gbps service.
In other Altice news, the company has entered into a definitive agreement to sell Coditel Brabant SPRL for €400 million to Telenet (Euronext Brussels:TNET). Coditel Brabant SPRL, operating under the SFR brand (formerly Numéricable), provides cable services to households and businesses in Brussels, Wallonia and Luxembourg and offers mobile telephony services in Belgium through an MVNO agreement with BASE. SFR BeLux has more than 90,000 customers in Belgium and approximately 15,000 customers in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
