The QRF5000MFX Series RFoG/PON encoder allows the MSOs to deploy all-digital lineups to low-cost set-tops. It can be used in conjunction with RFoG or PON deployments of all sizes, and is ideal for MDUs, hotels, hospitals, gated communities, casinos and retirement centers, Radiant says.

The plug-and-play QRF-5000 encodes local baseband video and audio channels and multiplexes them with a built-in QAM modulator and a broadcast agile RF upconverter for distribution into the existing cable network. With it, cable operators can locally insert content generated by an MDU, such as a bulletin board or security camera footage, for example. Since the output is optical, it only requires one device in a multi-building environment. The signal is split optically and distributed to multiple nodes or multiple buildings. Radiant adds that the device utilizes a GUI that many MSOs are already familiar with, and is available in one or two channels.
