FOC to Intro Fiber Laser Cleaver

At OFC 2016 in Anaheim, CA, Fiber Optic Center will introduce a new laser cleaver platform, the Cometx.

Comet_x from Sagitta Engineering Solutions is designed for laser cleaving of fibers during the connector termination process. Laser cleaving is free of chips and is intended to eliminate some polishing steps (for physical contact connectors) or all polishing steps (for bare fiber applications with no physical contact).

Four versions of the cleaver are available:

• Comet_x-Si: For laser cleaving of single fiber connectors prior to polishing
• Comet_x-Mt: For laser cleaving of multiple and/or single fiber connectors prior to polishing
• Comet_x-Ssp: For laser cleaving of multiple and/or single fiber connectors prior to polishing to be terminated by single step polishing
• Comet_x-Bf: For laser cleaving of multiple and/or single fiber in bare fiber applications (for non-physical contact connectors)

The platforms are upgradable. For example, Comet_x-Si may be upgraded to Comet_x-Mt or higher versions. Most upgrades can be done in the field.
