Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC) is expanding its TWC Maxx upgrade program to New York's Hudson Valley area. The Maxx program includes upgrades to Internet speeds, video services and network reliability. It will cover the Hudson Valley areas of Hunter, Liberty, Middletown, Monticello, Newburgh, Olive, Port Ewen, Port Jervis, Poughkeepsie, Rhinebeck, Rosendale, Saugerties, Walden, Woodstock and Wurtsboro.
The Internet upgrades, with a new top speed tier of 300 Mbps (up from 50 Mbps), are expected to start going live this spring. Video upgrades include transition to all-digital, an expanded on-demand library and deployment of a six-tuner, 1 TB DVR. Network hubs will be reviewed and upgraded as well, with an eye toward later deployment of DOCSIS 3.1.
TWC first announced the Maxx upgrade program in January 2014. Since then, the program has been applied in more than a dozen TWC markets, with more in the planning stages.
