In its biggest gigabit Internet push to date, AT&T (NYSE:T) has announced plans to deploy its GigaPower service in 38 new markets in 20 states. Two markets - Los Angeles and West Palm Beach, FL - went live today.
The telco says the service currently passes more than 1 million locations, with its footprint expected to double by the end of 2016. The gigabit service first went live in Austin, TX, last year and has been growing since.
Today's announcement covers markets in Tennessee, Wisconsin, the Carolinas, Texas, Ohio, Oklahoma, Washington, Mississippi, Louisiana, Nevada, Michigan, Kentucky, California, Indiana, Kansas, Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Arkansas.
