Shaw Communications (TSX:SJR.B) has announced higher speeds of its Shaw Go WiFi network for customers who have Shaw's mid- and higher tier Internet plans. Effective immediately, customers on those plans will get downstream speeds that are six times faster at nearly 75,000 Shaw Go WiFi hotspots across western Canada. Qualifying plans include Shaw's Internet 30 plan and above. Internet 30 provides up to 30 Mbps downstream, up to 5 Mbps upstream and 300 GB of data per month.
Shaw says its Go WiFi is Canada's largest WiFi network based on number of access points, and access to it is a complimentary value-added service for existing Shaw Internet customers. Through agreements with more than 90 municipalities, Shaw provides WiFi service to residents and visitors in thousands of public facilities in western Canada, with more than 2 million devices connected.
