Procera Networks announced the release of its Virtual Experience Probe, eVolution, designed to deliver intelligence to real-time analytics systems. The probe is an all-virtual data enablement solution intended to help fixed, cable, mobile and WiFi operators improve QoE by providing contextual intelligence they can act upon immediately.

The eVolution data probe is designed to run in VMware or KVM virtualization environments on COTS hardware, and to be a scalable real-time big data source for network intelligence based on native DPI technology. Features include:

  • Infrastructure- and vendor-agnostic data acquisition
  • Real-time virtualized software designed for COTS hardware
  • Intended for carriers, enterprises, system integrators, OEMs, channel partners, and third party big data providers
  • Data and KPI formats for use by big data repositories

eVolution is designed so that instances can be created, sized, and deployed in real time, and relocated as needed through the network by the operator using ETSI NFV specifications.

The base eVolution probe delivers access to real-time network forensics leveraging Procera's Dynamic LiveView. Software license add-ons deliver real-time data feeds to big data systems using IPFix or historical data through ODBC database integration. The base solution is also designed to enable traditional DPI visibility through Traffic Perspectives, with additional Perspectives available to provide deeper views into subscriber, routing, device, score, RAN, and content data.
