GoogleFiber (NASDAQ:GOOG) is looking into offering its gigabit-capable Internet service in three more cities: Oklahoma City and Jacksonville and Tampa, FL. The search giant is beginning planning studies in city, in conjunction with city leaders. The results of those studies will determine whether and to what extent Google Fiber builds out there.
In September, Google announced it was considering San Diego and Irvine, CA, and Louisville, KY, as potential candidates for its FTTH service. The company is also considering Portland, OR; San Jose, CA; and Phoenix as potential markets.
Google Fiber is currently deployed in the Kansas City metro area; Provo, UT; and Austin, TX. The company has further plans to deploy in Salt Lake City, Nashville, Atlanta, San Antonio, and Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham in North Carolina.
