MediaMelon and
Media Excel, a supplier of
OTTmultiscreen transcoding solutions, announced a product integration designed to improve streaming
video quality and bandwidth efficiency. MediaMelon QBR streaming optimization technology has been integrated with Media Excel HERO multiscreen encoding software to reduce bitrates, pave the way to 4K delivery, improve video quality, and reduce storage at origin servers.
MediaMelon QBR, offered as a managed service and integrated into the existing video workflow via APIs, is designed to enhance adaptive bitrate (ABR) technology by pre-analyzing scene complexity.
Media Excel's HERO multiscreen software is available on multiple platforms: x86 servers, virtual software running on the operator’s existing servers or on commercial cloud services. HERO HEVC encoder/decoder products are designed to provide real-time HEVC compression up to UHD/4Kp60.
The joint solution was demonstrated for the first time at the NAB show in Las Vegas in April.
