SES Launches UltraHD Demo Channel

Satellite operator SES (NYSE Paris:SESG) has launched its first UltraHD video demonstration channel serving the North American TV market. The demonstration channel, broadcast via SES-3 at 103 degrees West, is intended to enable cable operators to prepare and test their networks for UltraHD trials. The SES-3 satellite provides coverage over the North America market for live and linear UltraHD to cable networks. The company already has three UltraHD demo channels available across Europe. The system couples satellite broadcast with the multicasting capability of DOCSIS 3.0.
