Cable & Wireless Communications, a telecom provider operating in 42 countries throughout the Caribbean and Latin America, has selected Coriant to upgrade its fiber-optic backbone networks in Barbados and Jamaica.

The new broadband infrastructure for Barbados and expanded optical backbone network in Jamaica will use Coriant's hiT 7300 Multi Haul Transport Platform, including photonic mesh resiliency, coherent transmission, and scalability to transmission rates of 100G, 200G and 400G. The Coriant solution also includes network installation services.

The hiT 7300 is a 96-channel coherent optical communications system designed to support the transmission of 100G per channel for a total system capacity of up to 9.6 Tbps per fiber pair, and also to scale up to 13 Tbps per fiber pair.
