The SCTE announced continued progress in the creation of standards and best practices for energy management and network operations, as well as the availability of three standards sessions at Cable-Tec Expo 2014 next month in Denver.

SCTE has made available three new documents - Product Environmental Requirements for Cable Telecommunications Facilities - Test Methods (SCTE 203); FCC Proof-of-Performance Checklist for Analog and Digital Signals (SCTE 204); and Outside Plant Power Recommended Preventive Maintenance Schedule (SCTE 205) - at no charge at www.scte.org/standards. At the same time, the Society is preparing other energy and business continuity recommended practices documents for final approval in the coming months.

SCTE will host three 90-minute standards sessions at Expo: A session outlining the SCTE standards program and discussing projects related to HFC readiness for DOCSIS 3.1, HEVC and adaptive transport streaming and MPEG; an "Energy 2020" session that will outline the product requirements and standards needed for cable's next generation of energy-efficient networks and equipment; and a network operations session that will discuss FCC proof-of-performance, LTE interference and power system reliability.
