Norway

Get, a fiber-based broadband and content provider in Norway, has chosen AirTies Wireless Networks to supply its new in-home WiFi service, WIFIX, which includes a whole-home coverage guarantee.

Get, which serves approximately 500,000 homes and businesses, offers multiple mesh extenders from AirTies to create a WiFi mesh network for whole-home Internet coverage. AirTies' Air 4920s use the vendor's Mesh Software, which automatically "steers" consumers' devices (laptops, tablets, smartphones, game systems, smart home devices, etc.) to the best available access point, channel and band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) based on real-time network conditions in the home. Get is also using AirTies' Remote Manager, a cloud-based WiFi optimization software suite.

AirTies will be demonstrating its managed WiFi mesh solutions at IBC2018 in Amsterdam.

Sweden

Swedish cable operator Com Hem has upgraded to Verimatrix' Video Content Authority System (VCAS Ultra) to provide multi-DRM pay TV content security for an UltraHD/4K deployment.

Built on the Android N (Nougat) operating system, the new set-top box is being rolled out to Com Hem's 1.4 million subscribers for cable, terrestrial, IPTV and OTT delivery. Content for all services across the three networks and screens is secured end-to-end by VCAS Ultra, which is designed to ensure that UltraHD/4K content security meets or exceeds the MovieLabs specification for Enhanced Content Protection.

UK

Vodafone has deployed the NAGRA Security Services Platform (SSP). The service provider is using the platform to secure its multi-network TV service, Vodafone TV (VTV), across several countries including Italy, Greece, Spain and New Zealand, with more European and East European countries deployments slated to follow.

Deployed as a cloud-based, software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution, the NAGRA Security Services Platform is intended to enable Vodafone to secure multiple network types - including IPTV, hybrid broadcast and OTT - using a single content protection platform. The NAGRA SSP provides Vodafone with the NAGRA Connect client for converged CAS/DRM content protection, as well as the OpenTV Player to extend the viewing experience securely to portable devices.

Germany

Quantenna Communications' (NASDAQ: QTNA) QSR10GU chipset is powering Deutsche Telekom's Speedport Pro WiFi router. The QSR10GU is being used to support WiFi and multiple UltraHD video streams to multiple users simultaneously.

The Speedport Pro works with Deutsche Telekom's EntertainTV, bundles DSL and LTE mobile services, and provides Internet for multiple users. Like all other Deutsche Telekom routers, Speedport Pro also supports automatic configuration.

Deutsche Telekom has also launched EntertainTV Sat, a new 4K IPTV, OTT and satellite set-top box powered by Zenterio OS.

Greece

OTE Group, a telecommunications provider in the Greek market, is using Zenterio OS in its EUROBOX (KAON NS2000) set-top box, part of the service provider's COSMOTE TV pay TV service. The Zenterio OS deployment is intended to allow COSMOTE TV to support Internet-delivered, on-demand content in addition to live content. The EUROBOX also features a new COSMOTE TV Smart Remote application designed to let users control the COSMOTE TV set-tops from iOS and Android devices via a customized user interface. The application was created by a local partner in Greece and interfaces to set-top APIs developed by Zenterio.

As part of the upgrade with Zenterio OS, COSMOTE TV has also enhanced its VOD store. COSMOTE TV has 530,000 subscribers and offers its linear and on demand services through DTH, IPTV and OTT.
