SMK Electronics will be showcasing several new remote control solutions this week at the CableLabs Summer Conference in Keystone, CO.
Designed primarily for cable video entertainment applications, SMK's 'Evolution' set-top box remote control is available in two model solutions: a traditionally sized full-function remote with up to 47 keys, and a smaller 9-16 key version. Both support user interface (UI) options including Voice Command, Gesture-Based Navigation and Touchpad Cursor Control, and are powered by IR, RF, Zigbee RF4CE and WiFi Direct communications protocols.
Paul Evans, president of SMK, said: "As cable operators enhance their digital TV services with greater content choices and more advanced services, the search interface progressively requires a more intuitive remote control device. Subscriber engagement will depend, in part, upon the effectiveness of the user's interaction to these services - the set-top box remote control."
