ARRIS (NASDAQ:ARRS) has introduced its SURFboard family of home networking devices with RipCurrent G.hn technology.

The new system of routers and extenders is designed to solve the problem of WiFi dead zones. It uses a combination of powerline networking technology and auto-configuration software, as well as iOS and Android apps. It's designed for increased security, accessibility, and gigabit WiFi speeds.

The Gigabit Home Networking (G.hn) Power Line Communications technology uses in-home electrical wiring to create new hotspots anywhere there's a power outlet, connect high-bandwidth devices, and relieve congestion on the wireless band.

ARRIS RipCurrent-enabled routers and extenders available now on Amazon for pre-order include:

  • SBR-AC1200P WiFi Router with RipCurrent G.hn technology - $119.99
  • SBR-AC1900P WiFi Router with RipCurrent G.hn technology - $199.99
  • SBR-AC3200P WiFi Router with RipCurrent G.hn technology - $299.99
  • SBX1000P Ultimate Wired Network Extender with RipCurrent G.hn technology - $59.99
  • SBX1200P Ultimate Wireless Network Extender with RipCurrent G.hn technology - $99.99

ARRIS RipCurrent-enabled devices are also available in the ARRIS Store.

In other ARRIS news, the company has notched deployment wins with VUBIQUITY and HBO.

VUBIQUITY is using ARRIS' SECUREMEDIA content protection solution to pre-encrypt its video portfolio, including all electronic-sellthrough (EST) films and TV series for multiscreen platforms and devices over IPTV and over-the-top (OTT) distribution.

HBO has selected the ARRIS DSR-7400 series transcoder satellite receiver to support the optimization of its current MPEG-2/4 distribution platforms as well as prepare for future content distribution with HEVC compression and DVB-S2X modulation technologies.
