Tarana sees growth of next-generation fixed wireless access technology

Sept. 18, 2024
The company reports that its ngFWA broadband technology is used by more than 250 operators globally.

On September 17, telecommunications equipment supplier Tarana announced that its next-generation fixed wireless access (ngFWA) technology is being implemented by both Cox and Midco, with the former field piloting its equipment in licensed and unlicensed spectrum, and the latter using ngFWA for several Connect America Fund (CAF) buildouts.

This expansion of Tarana’s technology follows the April announcement of the company’s partnership with Mediacom, which is using ngFWA to meet RDOF requirements and expand its high-speed internet footprint. Tarana also recently announced a partnership with US Cellular, which is adopting ngFWA technology.

Ben Dold, chief operating officer at Midco, said his company began deploying Tarana’s solution earlier this year.

“It’s enabled us to increase the available bandwidth and better serve our customers,” said Dold in a press release. “Tarana has been a great partner, and it’s clear they have a vested interest in our success.”

Tarana reports that there are currently more than 250 operators leveraging its ngFWA technology as an alternative to legacy FWA equipment.
